Mark Scoular

Covering leadership, counter-terrorism, crisis management and emergency preparedness.

Mark is an internationally experienced keynote speaker and strategic adviser specialising in leadership, counter-terrorism, crisis management and emergency preparedness.

Following 34 years with the Royal Marines and Metropolitan Police, he retired having developed and lead, International Protective Security and Preparedness for the UK’s National Counter Terrorism Network. His career spans operational command, national & international strategy and major-event planning, including the London 2012 Olympic Games, the Asian Games, IMF Annual Meetings and FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Now Director of Protect and Prepare Ltd, Mark helps leaders and organisations strengthen decision-making, interoperability and resilience in complex, high-consequence environments.

Nick Aldworth

Covering counter terrorism, risk and intelligence

Nick has had a 43 yr career in protective security and counter-terrorism, during which time he has been responsible for protecting NATO installations, coordinating armed protection for VIPs, undertaking counter-terrorism search operations, leading armed response teams and, since 2019, he has worked in the private sector, currently as Managing Director of Counter Terrorism, Intelligence and Risk with Carlisle Support Services Group.

In 2015, Nick was appointed head of counter-terrorism protective security operations for London, leading multi-disciplinary teams in responding to terrorist attacks in the UK and overseas until 2018 when he was appointed UK’s Counter-terrorism National Coordinator. He was a member of the UK’s National Security Council’s threats and risks committee.

In July 2019, Nick was the architect of the white paper for a UK Protect Duty, which has become the Counter-Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, known more popularly as Martyn’s Law in the UK. Nick left policing in 2019 to set up his own not-for-profit business, dedicating most of his resources and time to promoting the Martyn’s Law campaign. In 2022, his company also funded and conducted two medical aid missions to south-east Ukraine.

Nick holds a master’s degree in public administration (policing) and is a visiting fellow at Cranfield University where he teaches on the post graduate terrorism risk management programme. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Strategic Risk Management, and a registrant of the Association of Security Consultants.
