Removing the Stigma of Mental Health

It’s been a tough year for everyone in many different ways and mental health is (thankfully) becoming a hot topic because of this. Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

When it comes to our staff, we are “all about the people”, they are the most important part of our company and it is their skills that are critical to our success. That is why, as part of “Our People” focus, Alison Campbell TSP’s Head of People has completed a Mental Health First Aid Course and is now our in-house Mental Health First Aider (MHFA).

The role of an MHFA is about recognition of mental ill-health, removing the stigmas that surround mental health, how to start a conversation, listen non-judgmentally, provide mental health first aid to someone in crisis, and have the confidence to guide someone towards the right professional support.

Furthermore, we have invested in providing a free Employee Assistance Programme to all of our employees. The 24-hour confidential helpline from Health Assured is there to support our staff through any of life’s issues or problems.

Let’s all start talking about Mental Health and remove the stigma once and for all
